His previous books including MoonPie (Jefferson Press), called "essential reading" by Library Journal, and Turnaround (HarperCollins), about the remarkable leadership of Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, is published in seven languages and has sold almost 100,000 copies worldwide.

Also the co-owner of Chattanooga's largest independent bookstore Rock Point Books and the founder of Jefferson Press, a niche publisher distributed nationally by Independent Publishers Group, Magee writes about issues facing the south in his featured column in the Chattanooga Times Frees.

A former newspaper editor, columnist, freelance writer, business owner and small town politician (he became the youngest ever elected member of the city council in Oxford, Mississippi in 1996), Magee was named one of Mississippi's top business leaders under the age of 40 in 1998. He decided on a leap of faith in 1999 to write full-time, a move he has never regretted.

His work has been featured in dozens of national and international publications including the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Orlando Sentinel and Kiplinger's Personal Finance and he has been a guest on Bloomberg TV, the Discovery Channel, the BBC and Mississippi Public Television.

A journalism graduate from the University of Mississippi, Magee now lives on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee with his wife and three children.
