David Magee's How Toyota Became #1, published by Penguin/Portfolio, will be published in six languages around the world following the announcement of several recent subsidiary rights sales. Previously, rights for Korean translation were announced. Now the following rights have also been sold:

--Portuguese translation rights for distribution in Brazil to Elsevier Editora Ltda.

--Chinese simplified translation rights sold to Shanghai Translation Pub House.

--Japanese translation rights to Nikkei Inc.

--Indonesian translation rights sold to PT Gramedia Pustaka.

--Thai Translation rights sold to Sumnukpim Eureka Co., Ltd.

Reviewer Brock Yates' positive review suggest that other global automakers have lessons to learn from Toyota's past. Magee Writing Dallas Cowboys Book

November 28, 2007

David Magee has signed with Random House/Triumph for his newest book, Playing to Win: Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys. The inside look at the 18-year ownership run under the team's flambouyant owner and its impact on the National Football League. Publication of Playing to Win is scheduled for August, 2008. The deal was made by Magee's agent, Esmond Harmsworth of Zachary Schuster Harmsworth Literary Agency of New York and Boston.

David Magee's How Toyota Became #1 (Portfolio/Penguin) was called "essential reading" and "an inspirational book" in the October 1, 2007 edition of Library Journal. Saying "Magee has in fact created another self-help book that individuals as well as corporations can follow in learning the methods that Toyota used to improve itself," Library Journal says Magee's research shows how Toyota has identified specific organizational goals and values that drive performance, such as continuous improvement and respect for people. How Toyota Became #1 will be available in stores nationally and online beginning November 1, 2007.

Korean Rights Sold

August 28, 2007

Rights for David Magee's How Toyota Became #1, scheduled for November 1 release from Penguin (Portfolio), have been sold to a leading Korean publisher for translation. Haneon purchased Korean rights in a nice deal. Publication is expected in 2008.
